Cold Water Drowning Rescue

This 16-hour course is designed for anyone involved in emergency services that may respond to a situation where someone has fallen through the ice or is in trouble in cold water/winter conditions.


Advancing from the 8-hour Ice Rescue- Operation Level training, this program teaches advanced rescue techniques, rope systems, use of ice anchors and advanced rescue equipment. In addition, this program will provide you with the knowledge to deliver medical aid, properly package and transport the hypothermic patient.


This course exceeds the Standards set in NFPA 1670 and 1006 guidelines for Cold Water/Ice Rescue.


Students should be comfortable in the water, with reasonable swimming skills. The course is very physical and requires that students partake in all components of the program to receive their certificate.
