SURFACE ICE RESCUE

ABOUT THE COURSE

This 16-hour course with added "Working Safely on Ice Surfaces" component offered and instructed by Trans-Care Rescue, is designed for anyone involved in emergency services that may respond to a situation where someone has fallen through the ice or is in trouble in cold water conditions.


This course exceeds the Standards set in NFPA 1670 and 1006 Guidelines for Cold Water/Ice Rescue.


This program teaches rescue techniques, rope systems, use of ice anchors and use of advanced rescue equipment. In addition, this program will provide you with the knowledge to deliver medical aid, properly package and transport the hypothermic patient.


During the course participants will cover scene assessments, rescue techniques and equipment, surface ice rescue field training and working on ice. In addition, students will complete a practical training portion on ice/in water.


Students must participate on all components of the course: lecture, practical and written exam, to pass and receive their certificate.
